Our friends at Paper and Stich, Jacksonville’s best design/craft/art blog said some nice things about Partisan the Sea. Be sure to check the out this fabulous local blog.
This week was a huge week for promotion. Ads were designed (see above), flyers and postcards were printed, artists were working like crazy and the full on promotional push began.
We confirmed a new band for the Friday opening and also finalized the after parties at Shantytown. Cuz the beat don’t stop when the party is over downtown, it just moves to Springfield for more DJs and bands.
Picayunes will be playing their first Jacksonville show so make sure and come out to see the premier of this new band.
The Friday after party at Shantytown will feature DJ Biggie Tea and Joe E. Fresh as GHETTOBLASTER! Free Keg.
The Artwalk after party on October 1st will feature bands Helios Eye, Paper Scissors Rocket and more tba plus $2 Ying Ling pints.
Shantytown is located in Springfield

We’ll have posters for sale, political giveaways and a raffle. Are you into antique furniture? There will be great deals on antique furniture reclaimed from the depths of the Churchwell building. Most stuff is 100+ years in age. Could be some good deals. Bring your wallet! You probably want to clear your event calendar for this one. Srsly.
Finally, we are planning a volunteer clean up day on Saturday September 20th from 11:00-3:00 at the space downtown. If you are interested, leave a comment.

Just In, El Jefe www.eljefedesign.com sent us a preview of what his poster is gonna look like… and it definetly shook me all night long (hint hint). They will be for sale at the show in a limited run so bring your cash money. Thanks a ton Jeff! www.partisanthesea.com for more artist additions.
Due to the number of inquires, we are opening the show for submissions and depending the number of spaces we have left and the date we receive the posters we will determine what makes it into the show.
We are pushing the deadline to September 23rd to give you more time to produce it and us plenty of time to hang them.
The theme of this show is anything goes, anything political. Candidates, Issues, world peace, freedom of speech, global warning… poverty etc.
The overall theme of “Partisan” is to let people know your opinion or view, what ever that may be. Your poster can just be an image or just type or a tricycle with a flag on it for that matter if it means something to you. Just as long as your sharing your opinion. We were just really tired of political shows that were afraid of the issues and just encourage voting and not what to vote for.
Criteria
If you have already created a poster(s) that you feel will fit the subject matter of our show, feel free to submit them. We are not requiring that you create new work although it is encouraged. Your poster also does not need to show any affiliation with our show whatsoever as you may want to submit it elsewhere or sell it on your own.
Poster Specifications
We know that posters can come in many shapes, sizes, colors, and executions. So with that being said, as long as it comes either screen printed, offset, digital, giclee, hand drawn, stenciled, water color, collage, or painted as a poster on paper that can be rolled up and shipped in a tube to be hung in the show, then that will work just fine. If you have question about an execution or a type of material not mentioned above, please free to email us anytime at info@partisanthesea.com.

We plan on using a simple clamp system to display posters, so there is no need to frame them. Just mail them in a regular poster tube.

Just In, Dirk Fowler www.f2-design.com responded to us saying that his poster is in the mail and that he will be donating it to the raffle. Whoo hooo! Thanks a ton Dirk, we know it will be fire! keep posted to www.partisanthesea.com for more artist additions.

We’ve added a bunch of artists to the list of people participating in the Partisan the Sea show. Including El Jefe Design and The Half and Half who was featured in the Gigposters of the Week on Urban Art Warfare. I’ll add artists to the end of the list as they let us know they will be participating.
Also in Partisan related news this week we’ve added a huge list AIGA related events going on Friday night at the show opening including:
- Ballot Design: Good vs. Bad ballot design, along with a Top 10 of good ballot design.
- Posters printed by AIGA National from the 2008 Get Out the Vote Initiative.
Just chill blog readers and PC users. Your experience will return to normal shortly.

Boy those unsuspecting artists are sure in for a surprise when they get their Partisan the Sea poster invite. Second set of artist invites leaving the building soon. As soon as we get artist confirmations we’ll start listing them on the site.

Levi and Kendrick, my partners in awesome art show-ness, finished screen printing the posters we are using as invites this weekend. We figured people would be more likely to respond and know we are really F-ing serious about this show, if they received a poster in the mail instead of just a simple email. As soon as Levi posts more photos, I’ll link to them here.
